Happy Birthday, Heidi!!
Today is Heidi's 11th birthday. I can't believe it. My sister's dog had puppies 11 years ago. We took 2 of the puppies. In the one picture is both of our dogs, Heidi and Bear. We had to put Bear to sleep almost 2 years ago due to a brain tumor. She missed him so much, they were together constantly and loved each other so much. We still miss him too. This past year has been tough on our girl. You can really see her starting to slow down. She has more pain and an ear infection that we can't seem to get rid of but she is always ready with a wag of her tail. She also has a bleeding disorder, that she will just start bleeding internally for no apparant reason. Right now, she seems to be doing well with it, but we never know when that might change. She is such a good girl and we love her so much. Happy Birthday, Heidi!!!

oh, she is a sweetie! and those two dogs came from the same litter??? they look so different!
you wouldn't believe the dogs that came from this litter, there were 8 of them and they looked so different. Of the dogs we know of, she is 1 of 3 that are still alive. We are blessed to still have her with us.
The furry members of our families just have a special place of their own in our hearts, don't they?

(I've seen vastly different dogs from the same litter. Our Gloria was born to a stray that looked like a blue-heeler/shepherd cross and was a smallish dog...all the other pups matched and were small, light brown, short-haired and hyperactive...then there was our Gloria, a great hulk of a pup, twice the size of her siblings and covered with a thick, long, fuzzy black coat. She was the couch potato of the group...I've never seen such a laid back pup. Obviously, though she had the same mother as the rest of the litter, she had to have had a different father! She grew to be about 100 pounds and resembles a Newfoundland!)
